A Force to Be Reckoned With: Augusta Longbottom’s Vitality in the Harry Potter Series

When we think of the heroes of the Harry Potter series, we often think of Harry, Ron, Hermione, and other prominent characters who played a major role in the defeat of Voldemort and his Death Eaters. However, there is one character who I think often goes overlooked, despite her crucial role in the resistance against Voldemort and her impressive fighting abilities: Augusta Longbottom, the grandmother of Neville Longbottom.

Augusta Longbottom is a formidable and highly skilled witch, with a steely determination and an unwavering loyalty to the cause of fighting against Voldemort and his followers. I know she also is one of those people that you want to yell at a time or three but Throughout the series, Augusta’s bravery and dedication to the resistance are evident in her actions. She plays a key role in many of the major battles against the Death Eaters.

One of Augusta’s defining traits is her strict adherence to tradition and propriety, this often puts her at odds with her grandson Neville’s more progressive views.  It also makes us want to cuss her out for Neville a few time too. However, despite their disagreements, some of her unnecessary comments and comparisons, Augusta deeply cares for Neville.  When Neville comes into his own she takes great pride in his accomplishments as a member of Dumbledore’s Army and a key figure in the defeat of Voldemort.

Augusta’s impressive magical abilities are evident throughout the series. She is a highly skilled duelist, with a particular talent for defensive magic. During the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, Augusta fought alongside members of the Order of the Phoenix and engaged in a fierce battle with Death Eaters.  When Death eaters tried to sneak up on her at her home in her old age, she made sure they paid for it. Her bravery and fighting skills were crucial in helping to protect Harry, Ron, Hermione, and the other members of the group.

In the Battle of Hogwarts, Augusta played an even more significant role. She fought alongside Neville and other members of the Order to defend the school against Voldemort’s forces. Her impressive magical abilities were crucial in holding off the Death Eaters and protecting the students and staff of Hogwarts.

However, Augusta’s heroism goes beyond her fighting abilities. During the Second Wizarding War, Augusta refused to disclose the location of her grandson Neville, who was a prime target of the Death Eaters due to his involvement in the resistance movement. Despite the danger this put her in, Augusta’s loyalty to Neville and the cause of fighting against Voldemort.

Augusta was also a member of the Wizarding Examinations Authority, which oversaw the administration of the O.W.L. and N.E.W.T. exams at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This position gave her a unique perspective on the education of young witches and wizards, and she was an advocate for the importance of traditional magical education.

Augusta’s commitment to tradition and propriety is also evident in her role in the Longbottom family. As a member of the prominent pure-blood wizarding family, Augusta places a high importance on the Longbottom family’s reputation. In spite of her focus on tradition, Augusta is also a progressive thinker that values the importance of fighting against oppression and tyranny.

In many ways, Augusta’s character represents a balance between tradition and progressivism. Her strict adherence to tradition is tempered by her dedication to fighting against tyranny. Her fighting abilities are complemented by her loyalty to her family and her commitment to the importance of magical education.

Despite her impressive accomplishments and her importance to the resistance against Voldemort, Augusta is  1 of the many overlooked in discussions of the heroes of the Harry Potter series. However, her actions throughout the series demonstrate her importance as a key figure in the fight against tyranny and oppression. Lets not forget the her comic relief as much as I want to be angry with her you also laugh at some of the things she says. She like the older woman in our families or in our neighborhood that’s sorta mean but we know she will always have our back. For some reason her bluntness is sometimes funny even tho we wouldn’t take that from someone else.

In the end, Augusta’s heroism, loyalty and slight comedic timing  is a testament to her strength of character and her unwavering commitment to the values of the wizarding world. Her impressive magical abilities, her commitment to tradition and propriety, and her loyalty to her family.
